Exclusive Interview
In July 2001, we had the chance catch up with Alicia Webb better known to fans as Ryan Shamrock of the WWF and Symphony of WCW. Below is what came up in the interview.
RHD: What have you been doing since leaving WCW?
ALICIA: Just working and living in San Diego.
RHD: How did you get started in wrestling?
ALICIA: I lived next to the summit, and a friend of mine, named wave, asked me to come and sit in the audience and act like i was one of the wrestlers' sisters. They said they would pay me to just site there, and i had nothing else planned, so I did.
RHD: What did you think about your WWF character Ryan Shamrock?
ALICIA: I had never watched a day of wrestling in my life, so i didn't know what to expect. I had no clue who Ken Shamrock was or any other wrestler for that matter, so i just did what they said to do. It was cheesy, but it's supposed to be, right?
RHD: Why did you leave the WWF?
ALICIA: I never signed my contract with the WWF because i wasn't sure about it. Then when it came time that i had to sign it or i couldn't work there, i still wasn't sure. I was talking with J.R. and Bruce Pritchard about it and they knew i really didn't know what i was getting into, so they said i should not. I wished i would have for like the first week, but then i realized it was definitely the best thing. I did not leave on bad terms, contrary to popular belief.
RHD: Who did you get along with most in the WWF?
ALICIA: Of the girls, i really liked Tori, and of the guys, obviously, Ken.
RHD: What did you think of your WCW character Symphony?
ALICIA: I was under the impression that the wrestler i was going to be working with was a pretty popular guy. They said he worked there for two years, so i thought people would definitely know who he was. Come to find out, the first time i worked there, was the first time he had ever been on a televised show. I guess if i had know that, we could have done things a little differently. Oh well, the Maestro was a great guy to work with, and i had lots of fun.
RHD: Who did you get along with most in WCW?
ALICIA: I liked a lot of people in WCW. I mostly hung out with Bret. We were never "an item" as most people thought, we were just really compatible friends.
RHD: Which company did you enjoy working for the most?
ALICIA: I really enjoyed the people at WCW better, but WWF was a lot more organized. I think WCW was at its worst when i worked there, hopefully it is better now.
RHD: What do you think about Vince McMahon buying WCW?
ALICIA: I think its funny, now no matter where you work as a wrestler, you work for Vince. Which is how i would want it if i was him.
RHD: Have you been offered a job with WWF or the new WCW?
ALICIA: No i have not, i think it would be fun to go back, but definitely in a few years from now.
RHD: If you were offered a job would you take it?
ALICIA: Maybe later.
RHD: What did it feel like walking down an arena with people calling your name out?
ALICIA: Well, they didn't really call my name, they shouted "Ryan" or "Symphony", but every now and then people would yell "Alicia" and i was like "How do they know my name?". I would look around, thinking it was a friend of mine, then see it was someone i had never seen before in my life. That was kind of weird.
RHD: How often do you work out?
ALICIA: Ha ha. Well i would like to say a lot, but the truth is maybe a few times a month. I know that's horrible.
RHD: What CD is in your CD player right now?
ALICIA: Aerosmith big ones. I'm secretly in love with Steven Tyler.
RHD: Who in the wrestling business do you consider a role model?
ALICIA: Mankind, he is more about character than looks.
RHD: Would you consider yourself a role model?
ALICIA: I honestly would now, but people have told me that i am because i am "Natural".
RHD: With many wrestling divas posing for Playboy now, would you ever consider it?
ALICIA: I have always been a huge fan of Playboy. I used to tell myself i was going to be a Playmate when i was like ten years old.
RHD: Are you currently dating anybody?
ALICIA: Yes, his name is Ken Shamrock, you might have heard of him before. Just Kidding. We have been dating since March of 99.
RHD: Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
ALICIA: I have always wanted to be an actress, so hopefully n 10 years from now i will be on a movie set in some really cool place, making lots of money so i can take care of Ken.
