Exclusive Interview
In September 2001 we had the chance to catch up with the lovely Looney Lane of UPW and below are the results from this special interview.

Q How did you get into the wrestling business
A: I met Rick bassman at a small UPW show and he asked me if I would be interested in doing shows as a manager and from there on I've been involved in the business.

Q What are the high and low points of being in the wrestling business
A: highs: the loyal fans, the adrenaline rush when I'm in the ring and in front of people, the people in general I've met in the business they are all awesome there are a lot of highs now lows: not to many lows, I guess time, time is a low cause you're always wondering when it's going to be your time, but hey if it doesn't happen for me I'm just stoked at all I've accomplished in the last 2 years in the pro wrestling business I have been truly blessed.

Q Do you have any regrets about getting into the wrestling business
A: no none so ever, I love being in the ring and around such cool interesting people and if it wasn't for this business I wouldn't have the closest friends I have right now with me in my life, so nope no regrets, well except for 1 not training as much as I should :)

Q Which Wrestlers/Divas have you enjoyed working with the most
A: well 1st and foremost, Cheerleader Melissa is by far one of the best girls out there, her and I just click in the ring and work really well together she absolutely rocks, and of coarse when I first started, Savvy she is a remarkable entertainer and her and I are also best friends like I said I owe a lot to this business because I met the coolest person in my life here.

Q Which Wrestlers/Divas have you least enjoyed working with
A: none yet.

Q Which wrestlers were the most fun to work with
A: all of the guys and girls I can say have been fun cause I try to make it fun. there's top 5 guys I can say have been super fun are The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels, Edge, The Prototype and the Ballard Brothers because they all believe and support me and are willing to teach and do whatever in the ring and I totally dig that. not saying I get no support but those guys stick out in my mind.

Q How are the other women of UPW to work with
A: they are all cool we try to keep it cool our dressing room has seen a lot of girls but for sure I can say the originals are and always will be my sisters like The Sadyst, Rio Storm, Savvy and Caryn Mower they are the coolest chicks I love them.

Q What was it like entering a arena with thousands of fans shouting and looking at you A: all I can say is that it is the most exciting thing ever the biggest high and adrenaline rush in the world and to have your best friend there with you to share that makes it even more exciting, man it by far is the best feeling.

Q Do you enjoy doing all the Media appearances which come with the job
A: of coarse, to go out and meet the fans, you need to do that because if it wasn't for those people paying attention to you and supporting you, you wouldn't be there of coarse I love the appearances.

Q What are your thoughts on the Nitro Girls
A: there cool, there hot girls and they can dance.

Q Do you have any comments when it comes to the XFL
A: not really Vince wanted to try something new and he did, it didn't work so he moved on, he knows what he's doing he's the man.

Q Have you followed the wrestling industry all your life
A: I can honestly say no, I watched it when I was lil with my cousin Nicolle and my aunt Lori but I really didn't start watching it hardcore till about the middle of 97' and I've been hooked ever since I love it.

Q What wrestlers do you admire
A: Shawn Michaels cause he just rocks, Chris Jericho cause he can wrestle his butt off, Edge for his absolute dedication and love for the business, HHH cause I don't care if it sounds stupid, he is the game the speech he gave on tough enough had me almost to tears he's definitely know what he's doing and lives, eats and breaths this business, and I admire pretty much every wrestler I've come in contact with in this business they all shred.

Q What wrestling related websites do you follow if any
A: well, I did follow scoopswrestling.com last summer, a lot, but they are no longer around but right now since I'm not near a computer often I really don't get a chance to check out many sites, but when I have time and a computer I'll be honest I check any sites that have any thing to do with me and the people I work with I try to keep up on my friends in the biz:)

Q If you could wrestle anyone who would it be and why
A: man that's pretty tough, I probably would have to say #1 Chris Jericho just cause I totally dig that guy, and #2 Edge just cause he's bro of mine and he's just so fun and as for girls of coarse I think I would have a pretty darn good match with Lita and her boys the Hardys. Lita is at the top of the ladies game so I definitely would enjoy working with her and Jackie too just cause she's so tough.

Q If you could be any wrestlers valet who would it be and why ?
A: I think for my character right now as I am, for the bigs, Kurt Angle and I always wanted to work with Christopher Daniels cause our gimmicks are alot a like seeing he dressed like a priest and quotes his "gospel" and I am a catholic school girl I think it would be fun. but for sure right now in the bigs with my gimmick Kurt the all-American and the school girl would hit it off

Q Where do you see yourself in 10 years time
A: well I for sure want to still be living here in Redondo beach or somewhere here in the south bay, but ultimately I want to be entertaining weather it be wrestling or acting, singing whatever just to be in front of people would be it for me and I just want to be happy in 10 years :)

Q Have you ever made any worth mentioning mistakes when performing Live
A: of coarse we all have that's life and it's the business I can say at least 2 times I got lost in the ring during a live show, it's funny how people say it's all fake and staged and for the most part sure, maybe but once that bell rings and your out in front of all those people you can't start over or turn back so ANYTHING can happen out there, so to answer yes I have made mistakes but we ALL have, that's how you learn and grow in WHATEVER you do.

Q What has to be your greatest wrestling moment
A: well, everytime I get to be back stage at WWF events and get to talk to the other wrestlers to get input, and for sure the time I worked at the Anaheim Pond in front of 40,000 people that kicked ass, I can pin point that one, but I have so many great moments that I wish I could write them all down, I've been so lucky and fortunate that I have so many awesome memories, oh! one other one was giving Edge my finisher off the top rope with out practice that rocked!!!! I do a rana, and he wanted to do it in the match, so that I can say was definitely a great moment. :)

Q What would you call your best physical feature
A: I don't know if it's physical but my willingness to do any thing in the ring, I love taking bumps and getting bumped, and if guys or girls have ideas and it's not in the risk of my life, even though all wrestling is a huge risk, I'll be willing to try it, I think that's my best physical feature, now if you're talking body wise I don't know it's what the fans like they are the ones who decide, I try to stay in shape and take care of myself, I haven't had many complaints so it's what they like.

Q Do you enjoy all the Internet attention you get
A: sure, who doesn't enjoy getting attention, I have the best webmaster out there and she totally takes care of me, she's the one that gets me the attention and again all the loyal fans I really do enjoy it, I mean I don't get to see all this attention you're talking about but what I do see, I love and definitely appreciate all of it.

Q Do you enjoy the interaction of UPW and WWF stars
A: yes, all of the people I've met through UPW / WWF shows have been nothing but awesome, Bassman usually had me do airport duty so I got to ride along or go to lunches with alot of the superstars so that was also a great thing about the interaction with the WWF. and I've made a few close friends out of those shows and they are all so willing to help you and give you feed back on what needs work and what you need to do to improve, and that always helps.

Q What kind of workout do u do
A: well, right now I'm just getting myself back on track, I live right near the beach so me and my best friend Savvy go walking every morning and just trying to eat right taking my vitamins, drinking alot of water and just feeling good about myself, cause if you don't feel good about you, you're really not going to go to far, so I do that, and training in the ring, I'm looking on getting a gym membership, and I have a home gym, I basically stay busy I try not to lay around to much.

Q How much time do you spend on training and keeping fit
A: like I said I walk everyday and try to do something fit every day, and ring work I get to wrestle on the weekends in other places than UPW, and like this weekend I will be training with Chris Daniels at the UPW gym and I'll be trying to stick to that on the weekends.

Q What fitness advice would you give to people looking to follow on in your footsteps
A: I can't stress this enough train with a PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING SCHOOL. no backyard and no messing around in your house, if you can find a school near you do it, check it out and as for other fitness, just live healthy and do what makes you happy, be happy with yourself.

Q What do you family think of your wrestling career
A: they think it's crazy but they support it, my dad always freaks out when after shows there are pictures on my website of like action shots he always thinks I'm killing myself, he always stresses PLEASE BE CAREFUL on the phone before and after shows, I always have to call him.

Q Do your family support what you do
A: sure they support me as long as I'm happy and can make a living at what I do and hopefully I will one of these days :)

Q Do you have much time to spend with your family
A: I live in a different state so no, but when they are around I do, like this last weekend so my dad, step mom, big brother, sister in law and my step sister all came down to see my brother play volleyball, he plays on the AVP Pro Tour and it was the last big tournament of the year, so I was with them on the beach all weekend watching volleyball, it was sooo fun. and when I go home, back to Vegas, I try to hang out with my mom, step dad and grandparents and I love hangin' out with my 2 beautiful nieces Madison and Isabell they rock!!!

Q How did your family react when they learned you were moving into the Wrestling Industry
A: just like anything, surprised, see I traveled with a Pro Rodeo Company for 5 years so I'm pretty extreme, they were confused at first but once they saw it they supported it. sometimes they still don't understand but they're learning.

Q What jobs interested you while you were growing up
A: lots of stuff, Dancing, Modeling, Acting, Pro Rodeo I like lots of stuff so any job related or anything unrelated I just like to stay busy and work, I held so many odd jobs, I was pool cleaner once for my cousin in Las Vegas crazy huh imagine me coming to clean your pool.

Q Looking into your past what one thing would you change if you could
A: I can't really say anything, I can't think of anything. I wish I did a lil' better in high school and my be went out for more activities, but you know, I stayed pretty busy and involved in school, so I really wouldn't change any thing, I love the life I've lived so far. :) you only grow with what you've learned and I've learned a lot, but I'm still growing and still learning.

Q Do you have any comments you would like to share with all of your fans
A: just a huge THANK YOU to all of your support and keep on supporting the ladies and men of pro wrestling cause if it's not for you guys we wouldn't be here, or I know for sure I wouldn't be here just a lot of thanks to everyone who has supported Looney Lane, I love you all :)
