Exclusive Interview
In October 2000 I conducted this Xclusive Interview with Lizzy Borden of XPW.

Q: What was your background before joining XPW?
A: I was a beach bum. I live in Southern California all my life. I'm from Huntington Beach and would probably be hanging out there today if I didn't have to work.

Q: What kind of girl were you growing up?
A: I was shy and innocent. I could have never believed I would be out in front of thousands of people on a wrestling show getting things thrown at me, especially during the months I was running the company behind the camera. I would have never thought I would do something like that, especially on TV.

Q: Why did you take the name Lizzy Borden? What significance does it have for you?
A: I like horror movies and scary stuff like that. I always liked the story of Lizzie Borden. But it works really well for wrestling- people who cross me better beware. I'm fully capable of having a mean streak.

Q: Why did you get involved with professional wrestling?
A: I always liked wrestling growing up. I love the drama of it. That's part of the reason I love working for XPW. The drama and story lines in XPW are so much more entertaining than most other wrestling shows. It's a lot more like the WWF than anything else. People always like to compare us to ECW, but we're really more like the WWF, especially in terms of story lines and drama.

Q: For fans unfamiliar with XPW, tell us about the promotion.
A: A federation has been promoting shows for a little over a year now. Our one year anniversary show was on July 22nd at the L.A Sports Arena and had XPW champion Sabu defending against Terry Funk in the main event. We started doing shows at the Reseda County Club, but we outgrew that. Then we moved to the Palace in Hollywood, but we outgrew that, too. The L.A Sports Arena is huge, but we are drawing more fans than ever there, so we're very happy.
My husband Rob Black, started the company. He was never on camera until a few months ago. At first we didn't have anyone on camera as a president or commissioner, but then I became the boss on camera. It was like I had the power because I was the boss' wife, and he let me do what I wanted to do.

We use a lot of name people like Big Dick Dudley, Kronus, Tracy Smothers, and of course Sabu. Over the past year, XPW has been the home of Shane Douglas, Chris Candido, Tammy Sytch, Nicole Bass, Missy Hyatt, The Pit Bulls, Public Enemy, Axl Rotten, and a bunch of others. We like to be an alternative to ECW, not just for the fans but for the workers as well. We also have a bunch of local guys who are getting very popular right now in XPW like the Messiah, who is with me and Rob on the shows as part of Rob's Army, Supreme, Jimmy, Kid Kaos, Dynamite D, and a bunch of others. And we're starting to use more lucha wrestlers now like Halloween, and Damien 666.

Q: What is your role in XPW right now?
A: it's kind of changing. First I was a crew girl, then Rob and I got married and I was the boss' wife and got to call the shots on the shows. Now that Rob is on-camera and co-CEO, he is fighting over for control of the company in the story lines. I'm just his wife and kind of there to help him do what he has to do and carry out his plans. I still get to stick my nose in other people's business and make sure that our army comes out on top. I also do a bunch of public appearances, usually with a wrestler or another girl from XPW like Kristi Myst or Jessica Darlin.

Q: Why should wrestling fans watch XPW?
A: Because its better than most of the other stuff out there. It's hardcore action, it's comedy, it's beautiful girls. Some fans of wrestling watch every show they can. In L.A our show is on KJLA and it airs Saturdays at midnight. From 10 to 11 they air the WWF's Jakked. From 11 to 12 they air ECW. And from 12 to 1 they air us, so fans get three hours of wrestling on a Saturday night. We used to be at 11 P.M butt since we were more violent and sexual and just more extreme than ECW, the station switched our timeslot. But we attract a lot of people to our shows who aren't wrestling fans and kind of make fans out of them. They come for the girls or the violence, or whatever. Mainly for the girls (Smile)!

Q: What separates XPW from your perceived rival, XPW?
A: Our shows have more drama. Our finances are in better order. There is a reason we have guys like Shane Douglas, and Sabu wanting to work here rather than there. Our violent stuff is a lot more violent than ECW's. KJLA had to switch our timeslot, because they felt we were more for mature audiences. We had a King of Deathmatch tournament. I've seen a lot of old ECW tapes, and there was a time when they were more extreme than they are now. We are just more extreme. Here they are suing us over the use of the word and our shows are really more extreme- The girls, the violence, the angles.

Q: What would your fans be surprised to know about you?
A: While I appear all sweet and innocent, and, ok bitchy on camera, there is a side to me that rarely comes out. But when it does, watch out. I'm a completely different person!

Q: What is your ideal night out on the town?
A: Driving around in a convertible, a nice expansive steak and lobster dinner, full body massage and a dip in the spa!

Q: What is your ideal night staying in?
A: Watching a movie and taking a hot bubble bath.

Q: Describe your ideal mate.
A: I cant be with someone unless they are funny. Guys with no sense of humor are way too boring. It also helps very much to be sweet and romantic. Surprise me from time to time. And they have to be smart. I like guys who can be creative and just know how to do things right.

Q: How do you feel about being "eye candy" as it pertains to pro wrestling?
A: I really don't care. Fans are there for both wrestling and T&A. That's what they need so it doesn't bother me at all. I'm lucky I have a role where I get to be more than just eye candy on the shows. People got to really despise the Lizzy Borden character in XPW. Rob and I are the most hated people in the company. It's not just me saying that either- That's what the fans think. We have a poll on our website and fans can vote for their most popular and most hated wrestlers and people in XPW. When I was just some girl they brought out for T&A I was popular. But as the boss' wife, the fans really turned on me. But it's all a part of the show. I loved being eye candy then, and now it doesn't bother me either.

Q: How do you relax away from wrestling?
A: You'd be surprised at how relaxing shopping can be. Then again, its always nice just to stay home and play
