Exclusive Interview
In June 2001 Levi Jerome of The Diva Newsletter had the chance to catch up with Indie Diva, Khanstance of PCW.
Levi: Hello Khanstance, thank you for the chance to interview you. This will give people everywhere a chance to learn a little more about the training women go through to break into the wrestling business. Khanstance: Thanks for interviewing me I appreciate it =)
Levi: The first question I have for you is, how did you get interested in getting involved with professional wrestling?
Khanstance: Well I was actualy going to try and get into it about two years ago. I was sitting at home watching Raw and a TV commercial for PWI flashed. At first I didn't think much of it but my mind started to work. I wanted to be a wrestler when I was a kid but for fear of what others might think I threw it in the back of my mind. Not a good idea it ate away at me for sometime and finally I decided to go for it. With all the stress and lonliness I was dealing with I needed something new that's when I called Jim of PCW (formely PWI).
Levi: When you first got interested, did you want to me a valet, or a wrestler?
Khanstance: To be honest I wasn't exactly sure. After talking to Jim I had it in my mind that I wanted to valet but I'm a big girl if you didn't notice and I want to get more involved so I decided that I wanted to ref as of right now I'm traing to be a ref and a valet. Eventually I think I'll work my way up to wrestler status depends on how bad I want it and how hard I work. To be honest I want to do it all Just gradually I think I need to earn the privallge to be a wrestler that's why i'm starting off the way I am..
Levi: Is there anything you have learned in your training thus far that was different then you thought it would be?
Khanstance: Yeah I sure did. The girls get treated just like the guys. So your going out their getting your ass kicked just as bad as the guys they don't treat you different. No matter if your a ref or a valet you still need to know it all. That's one thing I like about PCW they treat everybody the same. One of the trainers Dave who is known as Dynamic Dave Storm said something that would stick in my mind forever. "there are no girls in wrestling only wrestlers."
Levi: What are your feelings on the t.v. show Tough Enough?
Khanstance: I get asked that all the time and to be honest....I think it's a bunch of bullshit. We got tons of people who have been doing this for years and years, and these people go on some tv show and if they are "tough enough" they have a chance to become a WWF superstar. And it's not even garanteed that they will be a supestar, because if the crowd doesn't like you. Your as good as yesturdays garbage...it's all politics.
Levi: Who are some people that you admired in wrestling before training?
Khanstance: The two people who are like my mentors are Trent Acid of CZW and various other feds and Miss Bobcat of GLOOW (form wwf/mcw worker) Because of luck I met these wonderful people and had a chance to do their websites. I've seen them work and I have to say these two are just as good as some of those people in the WWF. Trent Acid could have become and ECW wrestler but he perfers working indy's, he's been in the buis for about 6 years now. He's unbeliveable in the ring he's toured in japan florida all over. He's a dear friend of mine and one of the best workers I've ever watched. Same goes for Bobcat. She even went at far as a developmental contract
Levi: You touched on a topic I wanted to get on a little later, but I guess we can get into it now. I'm sure you have seen a lot of wrestlers and managers in at a lot of different indy shows, are there any of them out there right now (besides Trent Acid and Bobcat) that you think should be in the WWF or WCW?
Khanstance: To be honest the WWF/WCW isn't even ready or capable of acomadating the TRUE workers
Levi: I agree, but who are some of the people you think the whole world should know about?
Khanstance: I can go down this list... Johnny Kashmere, Wifebeater, Steve Stone, Dynamic Dave Storm etc...the list goes on.... Sick Nick Mondo , Wally Wilde
Levi: In the WWF/WCW, who are your favorite wrestlers?
Khanstance: Right now I wouldn't say I have a fav but some of the people I enjoy watching are guys like Kurt Angle, Jericho, Benoit they actualy prove that they can wrestle instead of living off the past. Any women wise. The toughest girls out their who actualy prove themselve Jackie she's my fav then Molly Holly
Levi: In your mind, what are some of the best indy feds out there today?
Khanstance: In my mind I'd say CZW and PCW but ofcourse I'm partial to PCW because I work for them =) I think XPW is pretty good too.
Levi: So you're more into the hardcore scene, as opposed to the actually wrestling?
Khanstance: PCW isn't hardcore. CZW does have some hard core stuff but they have actual wrestling matches. It's not about how many tacs you can take to your back or how much barbed wire you can use. Actual wrestling is like the basics you can't have anything if you dont have the basics. For example take Jeff Hardy, yeah everybody like watching him do his moves but he does all that crap when he first comes out then when he runs out of gas he starts to actualy "wrestle" nobody wants to see that it's boring!
Levi: Do you feel that Jeff is the better half of the team? Many think that Matt is better because he is technically sound, and he actually plans parts of his matches in the back, as opposed to taking it as it comes like Jeff.
Khanstance: No way I think Matt is better of the two Jeff is sloppy as hell in the ring. Simple.
Levi: Where do you think the best actual wrestling is today? Considering all possible choices, WWF/WCW, American indies, Mexico, Japan, or Canada.
Khanstance: The indy's
Levi: Do you have a set of goals for yourself, for after you complete your training?
Khanstance: Yeah to get my body in the best physical shape I possibly can and to prove all my doubters, and most important myself, that I can do this.
Levi: Where do you see yourself five or six years from now?
Khanstance: Hopefully still with PCW and one of the most successful multimedia people in the us.
Levi: I think the only question I really have left is for the fans and promoters out there. How can we all keep in touch with Khanstance? Do you have an e-mail address, or web-page that we can follow you and your training?
Khanstance: Yep I sure do! My email address is XKhanstanceX@aol.com and my website can be found at http://Khanstance.cjb.net
Levi: Thank you Khanstance for your time. Good luck in completing your training, and I hope you accomplish the goals you have set for yourself. C-ya, peace out!
Khanstance: Toodaloo and Smooches!
