Interview with: Brandi Richardson
In September we had the chance to interview Brandi Richardson who has taken the Indie Scene by storm.
Q How did you get involved with Wrestling?
I wanted to so it since I was a kid. Then my friend started a promotion so I began working with him and I kind of went from there.
Q Which wrestling company do you work for?
Mostly SCW
Q What was it like in the Locker-room?
Very good. Like a big family.
Q Which wrestlers were the most fun to work with?
Cham Pain and Lazz are fun. ALso Sean Alexander and Brad Hunter and William Wealth.
Q How did you like your time in the company?
So far it has been a great experience.
Q Did you enjoy being a valet?
Very much so. You get to be someone that you are not for that little bit of time. It is really an outlet for a lot of things. It is the perfect thing for me: a little bit of theater, and a lot of wrestling. I love it.
Q How are the other women to work with?
They are great for the most part. We help each other a lot. It is always good to have other women that are where you are and understand all that you go through. Also it is good to have other girls back there if you need something from a hairbrush to another pair of shoes... we travel heavy!
Q What was it like entering a arena with thousands of fans shouting and looking at you?
Well, I haven't encountered THOUSANDS yet, but to have a few hundred yelling at you (usually mean things! LOL) is really an adrenaline rush, and then it is also fun that they buy in to what you are selling. If you go out there and it is dead silent, you know something is wrong. I love the rush!
Q Did you enjoy doing all the Media appearances?
So far I have only had one media appearance and one commercial, both of which were really great. The Raleigh tv news interviewed me during a show once and it was really cool to be able to share my opinions on what I love to do the most.
Q What are your thoughts on the recent WCW Sale and do you think WCW will turn around now that Vince McMahon is in command?
I have mixed feelings on the sale. It re-heightened the interest in wrestling, but it made it harder on up-and-comers like me. Whereas we went from battling for spots in 3 feds (WWF, WCW and ECW) to 2 (WWF and WCW) and now one (WWF)... there are just a whole lot of people vying for very few spaces.
Q Have you been offered a WCW or WWF Contract?
No, not yet. I hope to have one one day, though! So, VInce McMahon, if you are reading this... just kidding! (Actually I am not!)
Q Who did you hang around with most backstage?
At SCW, probably Lilly, William Wealth, Sean Alexander, Lazz and others.
Q Did you make any close friends while wrestling?
I have become really close to Lilly and William.
Q What are your thoughts on the Nitro Girls?
I have no feelings one way or the other, really. They were great dancers and (based on my opinions of the ones I have met) really nice girls.
Q What are your thoughs on Backyard Wrestling?
I don't like it. I think that it is a good way for young kids to get hurt by trying things that they are untrained to do. Go out, get trained and work for an Indy group. Don't do it on a trampoline.
Q Do you have any comments when it comes to the XFL?
The what? Just kidding. I saw it a couple of times. I don't really like football.
Q Do you have any comments when it comes to Missy Hyatt's Wrestling VixxxensWebsite?
I have not seen that website.
Q Do you have any comments when it comes to MTV's Show Tough Enough?
It is good in that it lets people know that wrestling really isn't all glamour and "fake" stuff... it shows the truly tough world that these guys and girls face.
Q Have you followed the wrestling industry all your life?
Since I was 4 years old.
Q What federations have you been a fan of- All of them?
Mainly WWF, WCW and ECW (and of course SCW!!)
Q What wrestlers do you admire?
Lita. She has been revolutionary. The Hardys because they started out like we all are and they made it. They are inspirational. I also like (from a fan's perspective) HHH, Jericho, Tajiri and RVD.
Q What wrestling related websites do you follow if any?
I like Lords of Pain.net
Q If you could wrestle anyone who would it be and why?
Lita because, even though she'd slaughter me, I would learn a lot.
Q If you could be any wrestlers valet who would it be and why?
HHH, cause he is so cool. Jericho, same reason. Edge and/or Christian because they crack me up and Test. I don't have a real reason for that one, I would just like to.
Q Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
Hopefully in the WWF or, if not, as a lawyer having graduated from UNC's law school. I am working on both now.
Q Have you ever made any worth mentioning mistakes when performing Live?
I fell in a hole in a broken ring once. The board had moved and the canvas was over it and I fell right in. I laughed it off, though.
Q What has to be your greatest wrestling moment?
Even though it was terrible, my first match. Also, being able to work with Cham Pain, Shane Helms, Shannon Moore and others all in one match.
Q What would you call your best physical feature?
Ummm... I think it pretty much stands out! Just kidding. I like my smile.
Q How has your wrestling career effected your life as a whole?
Made me busier, but given me an objective and a dream to reach for.
Q Do you enjoy all the Internet attention you get?
What internet attention I get (positive) I enjoy.
Q What is it like knowing men have pictures of you on there walls and knowing many are in love with you?
Pretty nice... :) Any woman would like that!
Q Can I have some comments on the following
Wrestlers/Divas- Hard workers
Chyna- Where is she?
Lita- Awesome.
Trish Stratus- Has really done a lot to get out of the "stereotype" she was given. Proved herself.
Midajah- What did she really do?
Ivory- Superb wrestler.
Molly Holly- Another great wrestler and SUPER nice person.
Nicole Bass- Is there an uglier woman on the planet... really?
The Kat- shouldn't have flashed the world that time.
Stephanie McMahon- Great business woman and performer. Knows her stuff.
Kidman- Great high-flyer and wrestler. Very nice person.
Rena Mero- I wish I looked like that!
Hulk Hogan- My favorite as a kid! I took his vitamins back then... does anyone else remember those?

The Rock- Legend in his own time.
Kurt Angle- Took the ball and RAN with it.
Triple H- I hope he gets well soon. I miss seeing him on tv.
Shane McMahon- I admire him for the bumps he takes. Because of his name, he really doesn't have to do all of that to get over, but he does it and I REALLY respect him for it.
Steve Austin- another legend in his own time. I credit him and DX, along with the nWo formation for bringing a lot of people's interests back in to wrestling.
Vince McMahon- GENIUS. No one can do it quite like him. He lives and breathes this business.
Q What kind of workout do u do?
I should do cardio, but I prefer weights.
Q How much time do you spend on training and keeping fit?
Varies on how busy my schedule is. Not as much time as I should.
Q What fitness advice would you give to people looking to folllow on in your footsteps?
Set a goal. You'll quit easily without a goal.
Q Do you have any comments on the WWF's Chyna and how she has changed her look over the past 3 years?
I think that she allowed muscular women to be seen as beautiful. I don't disagree with her at all for getting plastic sugery. If you want it and can afford it and if it will help your career... go for it.
Q What do you family think of your wrestling career?
They like it. Most think it is cool.
Q Do your family support what you do?
Yes. Completely. My dad was stand-offish at first, but He is fine with it now.

I make time. They come with me to a lot of my matches.
Q How did your family react when they learned you were moving into the Wrestling Industry?
They knew it was inevitable... they remember the hulkamaniac vitamins! :) They knew I wanted it since I was little.
Q What jobs interested you while you were growing up?
I am in college for pre-law right now. That's about it. Wrestling and Law! :)
Q Looking into your past what one thing would you change if you could?
I would have learned to wrestle before I started valeting.
Q Do you have any comments you would like to share with all of your fans?
Thanks for the support and keep hoping that WWF swings my way!
Q What is your favorite Movie?
I like Meet the Parents a lot.
Q What is your favorite Television Show?
RAW, of course. :) Otherwise, Charlies' Angels.
Q What is your perfect meal?
Italian... anything Italian.
