2001 has been a great year for all the Divas of Wrestling. We have seen many changes with some new Divas taking to the spotlight while others leaving the spotlight or going off to do new things. Anyhow RHD have been looking back at 2001 and below is our timeline which highlights the best of 2001.
January
Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Trish Stratus opened up the new year with many encounters. It all began in late 2000 when Vince was on the phone to Stephanie and Stephanie heard Trish speaking. We enter 2001 with Steph confronting Trish about being with her father over the Christmas period, Steph says that Trish's big breasted antics and plastic smile won't work on her and that there is only room for one dominant female in the McMahon family and that is Steph.
During the month Trish is caught oiling Vince, coming out of place's where she shouldn't be and generally ennoying Steph to the point where she comes to the ringside area for HHH's match against Kurt Angle at the Royal Rumble. Naturally Trish comes down with Kurt and during the match the 2 Divas cat fight it out to a flesh hungry crowd.
Later on in the month Trish and Kurt met Triple H and Steph for a tag match which saw Triple H pedigree Trish which allowed Steph to get the win.
Also in January we saw the return of Chyna who began her first ever full fledged feud with a woman, that being Ivory of the RTC. Ivory defended her championship against Chyna at the Royal Rumble and managed to retain it due to Chyna injuring her neck.
February
Keeping on track with there feud, Trish is seen on SmackDown in a hot tube and is inviting someone to come join her, everyone know's its Vince who she is after. Stephanie feuds with Trish for the whole month until it is finally announced that the pair will meet each other at WWF No Way Out. Before the PPV Trish and Vince go public and show there affections to each other in front of everyone...... including Linda McMahon. When the PPV arrives the pair have a great match and Stephanie wins with a little help from William Regal. Trish and Vince meet Steph and Regal the following night on Raw where Vince turns on Trish and in an evil act, the 3 wash-up Trish with a used mop and dirty water right in the ring.
The Kat returns to WWF TV where she feuds with the RTC alongside the APA. She even goes to a strip club and dances with erotic dancers. Naturally the RTC win the feud and The Kat is forced to join them. She appears on RAW and that is the last we see of her as it is later revealed that the WWF have released her. Jerry Lawler quits in honour of his wife and a big petition has begun to get the WWF to re-hire them. Over 40k people signed it but nothing came of it.
Lita took on Dean Malenko and after the match, which she won, Matt kissed her and thus they became a couple.
March
Just when you thought she was gone, Trish returns and begs like a dog, literally, for Vince to forgive her. He does and Trish is known as the new McMahon slave and brings coffee for Steph, takes Linda for rides and more. Sex shows are the new theme for Trish and Vince and they nearly do one until a returning Shane McMahon interupts and attacks Vince.
Chyna returned to WWF TV when she came out and stripped Ivory down to her bra and panties in the middle of the ring thus setting up a return match at the next PPV.
Ms Jones and Midajah finally returned to WCW TV just before WCW was sold to the WWF and that is the last we will see of the pair for the future.
April
Trish goes into WrestleMania X-Seven as the heel and brings out Linda. Trish then turns on Vince and sides with Linda. Stephanie then gets into another cat-fight with Trish and even takes out her anger on Mick Foley. The next night Stephanie takes on Trish in a strap match which sees Stephanie defeat Trish with some help from Regal.
Also at WrestleMania Chyna was able to defeat Ivory and become the new Women's Champion.
Chyna then went on to defend her championship against the likes of Molly and Ivory.
Stephanie is also hanging around with Triple H and Austin in April.
WWF Divas 2001, the magazine, is released in this month as well as the Hedonism Video. Trish promotes these during RAW and she makes some appearances at WWF NY.
May
Trish does some more promotional work for the new Divas Merchandise this month before returning to the ring to meet Lita, Jackie and Ivory in a Diva Match at WWF Insurrextion. All the women turn on Ivory and Steven Richards and they strip the pair before celebrating to a jam packed UK crowd.
A Lita Home Video is released in the US and houses lots of Lita footage and is a great buy for any Lita fan. This marks the forth Diva to get her own Home Video.
Chyna said she was going to spank the WWF Women which got Lita in the mood for some spanking and she came out and spanked Chyna, the 2 had a playful feud which ended at Judgment Day when Chyna defeated Lita in a solid outting. Sadly fans were not aware that this would be Chyna's final match and appearance on WWF TV.
Towards the end of the month Trish joins Blackman and the pair form a team who eventually begin a short feud with Terri and Perry which sees Trish and Blackman get a win in a tag match thanks to help from Lance Storm of WCW.
June
Terri and Trish continue there new found feud in this month and the pair even meet in a Bra and Panties Match which sees Perry Saturn come out and reveal his own Bra and Panties which is a sick moment. Trish got the win in the match and in the feud.
Trish eventually leaves Blackman to side with the Big Show and she re-starts her feud with Lita and Lita even gets to strip Trish of her top during a match.
Torrie Wilson returns to TV this month when she is shown asking Mr McMahon for a job in the WWF, like Trish, she setup Vince for Linda by seducing him and leaving him with his pants down and in front of a mad Linda.
Molly Holly finally got her own section on WWFDivas.com after waiting for 8-9 months.
Diane and Elaine Klimaszewski, better known as the WWF Twins, were released from there WWFE Contracts. Shame as the pair could of made a huge impact on WWF TV.
Tough Enough begins airing and the women begin there quest to become a WWF Superstar.
It is announced that Chyna had decided to part ways with the WWF due to contract disputes. She will be under contract until the end of November and after that she will go onto other ventures, the whole Internet is shocked and are talking about it.
Silly Internet reporters began reporting that the WWF were planning on scrapping the Women's Division, we put them straight on that idiotic rumor.
The Undertaker's wife, Sara, shows up and she is now a full-time valet to the Undertaker while he is feuding with DDP.
Missy Hyatt and Tammy Sytch shocked us all when they announced that they were planning on opening up a Nude Website for of wrestling women. The planned date was July 2 and everyone on the net were talking about the site.
Speaking of nudity, the August issue of Playboy Magazine featuring former ECW Diva, Elektra, went on-sale.
We got the chance to catch up with Midajah and interview her during this month and the interview is in the Interviews section for those of you who want to read it.
July
Trish and Big Show took on Matt and Lita in a match which saw the Big Show nearly attack Trish but like in every story there is always a hero who saves the woman, in this case it comes in a mad Jeff Hardy. Trish and Jeff get close and kisses are shared but this anglell soon come to an end when Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson from WCW get involved.
Lita meets Trish in a match in order to settle there differences before there big tag match which will see them take on Stacy and Torrie.
Bra and Panties returns at Invasion when we see Trish and Lita destroy Stacy and Torrie and also lots of flesh scenes.
Stephanie returned to WWF TV at the start of the month when Shane McMahon announced that she was the new owner of ECW, which had just merged with WCW to form the Alliance.
Torrie Wilson meets Trish in a Paddle Match on RAW which sadly sees Trish getting spanked thus causing her to lose the match.
We return to the Internet where we all learn that Trish has injured her ankle and will be out for 2 months.
Molly Holly gets her own action figure.
Chyna debuts her personal website being BodyByJoanie.com. Later on in the month we confirmed that she was to be featured in Playboy Magazine and a Home Video at the end of the year.
Stacy and Torrie guest host an episode of HeAT and insult the crowd and make fun of Jackie, not knowing that Jackie was in the building they were shocked when Jackie came on stage to a huge crowd reaction and she proceeded to kick there asses.
The WWF announced that they were planning on releasing a special magazine based around Lita and the Hardy Boyz this coming September, we were all thrilled.
August
Trish returns to TV to co-host the new WWF TV Show being Excess alongside the Coach.
Stacy and Torrie take on Jackie in a handi-cap match where Ivory returns to her old self and takes out Jackie and joins the Alliance and is now a trainer for Stacy and Torrie and helps the pair with there matches and the trio later take on Lita, Jackie and Molly for a pre-SummerSlam match and then the following night on RAW. Both matches were below average.
At the end of the month Torrie is hitting on Tajiri and sparks are there.
Stacy Keibler and Midajah hit the big screens when they had a small role in the Bubble Boy Movie, from reader reports the phrase "small role" should be taken straight to the point.
The WWF signed Paisley to a contract and she was sent to OVW to train alongside Tori and Victoria.
Sadly after everything Jerry Lawler did and gave up for the Kat, she filed for a divorce, lets just say one of them were playing away from home and it wasn't the King.
Back at Tough Enough HQ, Nidia and Taylor were battling it out for a place on the WWF roster, this was a hard call and I for one though Taylor was in for a chance but we will have to wait and see.
Stephanie and Triple H are confirmed to be a real-life couple, sadly Stephanie had breast implants this month and they don't suit her one bit. She was very open on WWF TV and even had Jericho make fun of them live on RAW.
Speaking of Stephanie she re-starts her feud with Chris Jericho in a full fledged way and has Test, Rhyno, Dudleyz and RVD try to take him out.
September
Torrie and Tajiri are now a TV couple and have to face Shane, Stephanie and Austin many times for being together.
Terri came over to the UK for a promotional tour and was lots of fun to watch on UK TV.
Stacy and Torrie appear on WWF Excess at the end of the month and do a good interview and behind the scenes footage of there RAW Magazine shoots are shown.
The WWF launched a 2001 Babe of the Year Poll Website with the winning Diva getting her own Website, we revealed it was fixed with proof and if we jump staight down to December the winner still hasn't got a website.
Former ECW Diva, Jazz, signs with the WWF and is sent down to OVW alongside Tough Enough Winner Nidia. Sadly Tori leaves OVW and is leaving the WWF. She won't be resigned when her contract expires.
October
Trish returns to Live TV and strips for Mick Foley on an issue of RAW. Later in the month she teams up with Lita to take on Ivory and Mighty Molly. The 4 women put on a great show and Trish gets the big win.
Fans get to see Trish in the shower when Matt enters the locker-room looking for Lita, Lita and Matt decided to find a shower of there own, naturally some fans thought it was real.
Trish gets a big win over Mighty Molly later on in the month.
Tajiri saves Torrie from the gore during a match at WWF No Mercy.
On the same PPV we see Stacy and Torrie battle it out in a Lingerie Match and both women look hot and put on a good 3 minute show before Torrie picks up the win.
At the end of the month it is announced that either the WWF or the Alliance will be destroyed at Survivor Series in a winner takes all match, all the Divas jobs are on the line.
November
Trish is still hosting Excess. Trish refs a Match between Lita and Torrie who take on Stacy and Molly which sees Lita/Torrie get the big PPV win. Trish also managed to get a big win over Ivory on an episode of HeAT.
Debra, Jackie, Sara, Lita, Trish, Stacy, Torrie, Victoria, Molly and Terri took part in a 12 day shoot over a 3 week period over in the Bahamas. The pictures/video footage will be used for a Special Magazine, Video, DVD, Trading Cards and TV Show next March.
William Regal tells Ivory on an episode of SmackDown that the WWF Women's Championship will return at Survivor Series. Ivory takes on Lita, Molly, Trish, Jackie and the debuting Jazz at the PPV and Trish gets the win and is your new Women's Champion. Jazz debuted in the match and she was best known for her appearances in ECW, sadly she never got a good crowd reaction despite her great performance.
Trish gets a big win over Lita the following night on RAW, which also marked the return of Jerry Lawler. Trish also defeated Stacy Keibler in a Gravy Bowl Match on SmackDown and then defeated her again in a Bra and Panties Match on RAW.
William Regal and Ivory battled Torrie and Tajiri in a short feud with the heels getting the win.
December
Trish joins The Rock to defeat Vince McMahon and Kurt Angle in a tag match which sparks an on/off relationship between the pair. Trish also gets a big PPV win over Jackie at WWF Vengeance and she later defeated her on an episode of HeAT.
Trish and The Rock lose a match to the Dudley Boyz after Stacy Keibler gets involved. Later the Dudleyz put Trish through 3D.
Ivory battled Jackie in a solid match on WWF Metal which saw Ivory get the win. We were also treated to small shots of the Tough Enough 2 cast, the women look hot.
Booker T took to the Church in December when he heard a confession from a pretty blonde. She confessed to having sex with her husbands best friend and brother and said she recorded it. Booker T being Booker T told her to mail him the tape. Talk on the Internet is that the WWF might hire the woman.
Debra returned to WWF TV alongside Austin with her world famous Debra cookies.
Sadly towards the end of the month it is announced that Terri is the new co-host of WWF Excess.
Stephanie made a short return to TV when she tried to make up with her father by buying him a gift, but Vince told her to get out resulting in her running off while crying, can anyone smell a face turn?
Torrie Wilson battled Stacy Keibler in the first-ever Eggnog Match which was quite a sight. Torrie won though.
Mae Young and Moolah finally made a return to TV when they joined in the McMahon Christmas Party on RAW and Mae, like always, got drunk and stripped...
Trish took on Molly in the final SmackDown of 2002 and Jazz returned to WWF TV and took out both women with DDT's and she held the Women's Championship which means she will go into 2002 as a heel Diva and will be going after the Women's Championship.
